Tamerza offers outstanding conditions of a spectacular mountain area and has been drawing tourists in search of architectural buildings and old towns. It is the most preferred destination for those who enjoy hiking and rock climbing. Today, the ruins of Tamerza are worth a visit for their spectacular scenery and rich history.

Hiking through the Tamerza canyon is an absolutely must-do trip. The canyon has many sources of clear water and you will find numerous waterfalls.

Hiking in Chebika

Chebika is another popular hiking area not far away from Tamerza and only 50 kilometers away from Tozeur. The local guides can take you on a 40-minute walk to a waterfall. The river flows from the rocks, watering the palms.

Chebika Oasis

You will be marveled by the clear blue water and if you climb further on, you will enjoy a view towards the mountain, the oasis, and Chott El Jerid salt flat. The view from the mountaintop is a spectacular panoramic view that overlooks the palm oasis, mountains, and the Chott El Jerid salt flat.

Hiking in Mides

Mides is another beautiful three-kilometer gorge bordering beautiful white houses scattered on the hillside. This little village is only six kilometers from Tamerza. If you do go and are ready for a hike there is a marvelous 4.5-kilometer trail connecting Mides and Tamerza. A local guide can be hired for a reasonable price.
